Lurking

Any user found to be Idle within the OOC Lounge will be removed from the room. Idle status results after roughly ten minutes of inactivity, both public and in whispers. Those removed due to inactivity receive no negative effects towards their username.

Language

Discussion of any topics hinting towards, suggesting, or containing underlying themes about anything illegal within the chat's host nation (the United States) will result in the user being kicked and/or banned from the chat. Such topics include, but are not limited to, drugs, underage sexual relations, and theivery.
Foul language will be accepted to a degree. If a user complains of abuse of such, the offending user will be Kicked or Banned if they do not stop after being warned by a moderator or administrator.
Racial slurs will not be tolerated. Hate campaigns, such as anti-Semitism, anti-homosexualism, and any other hate crime, whether it's verbal or psychological will suffer administrative repricussions. Offending users will be kicked or banned at the moderator or administrator discretion with or without a warning. This rule is not applicable in character actions or dialogue.*
Any user found harassing or threatening** the well-being of another user OOC/IC in a room, either through whispers or public posts, will be issued a warning to cease depending on each situation. If the problem persists after a warning has been given, the offending user will be kicked or banned after a moderator's decision on the case. In the case of harassment being done through an IM program such as AIM, MSN, ICQ or another instant messenger program, the user should block them and report it to the IM service provider. Situations in messenger services is beyond the control of the site staff, and thus can not be handled in site.
Disobeying these rules will result in either being Kicked from the Chat or Banned from the site.
* While we understand some things may be offensive when used in IC situations, we do not restrict character emotions or the style in which they are played. If an user feels offended by such, please whisper the offending user and ask them to cease. If failure of such occurs, contact a moderator or administrator and the proper measures will be taken.
** Threats and Harassment can include but is not limited to encouraging others to hurt themselves, death threats, slander and posing as another user.

Pictures

This site is not intended for use of pornographic pictures. Unlike most sites, there is no rating system (G, PG, PG-13, NC-17, R) that is used for what is acceptable and not acceptable. However pictures that depict partial nudity are acceptable, so long as it's tasteful. Pictures that depict full nudity are not acceptable. No pictures focusing on the genital region of any character within the picture will be allowed, whether it be human or otherwise. Failure to comply with these rules will result in a moderator warning where the offending user will then be granted 5 minutes to change their picture or remove it before they're kicked.
While picture files larger than 100kb (File Size) are not recommended due to slow loading for other users on a slower internet connection, image files larger than such will be tolerated as long as they are not overly so. A decent range recommended for image file sizes are 100kp - 150kb. If the picture is overly large (such as 200 kb or larger) a moderator or administrator will issue a warning. Unless that picture is downsized following the 5 minute procedure, the user will be kicked or banned depending on each situation. Moderators and administrators will take into account possible delays that may cause the time limit to be exceeded.
Realms-rp.com will not be held responsible if a picture is copyrighted and used without the artist's permission. Administrators will remove a copyrighted picture from profiles should the artist request such. Users who are found using the picture a second time will be kicked or banned accordingly. Realms-rp.com is not responsible for how users find and use images.
Disobeying these rules will result in either being Kicked from the Chat or Banned from the site.

OOC Room Use (Out of Character)

IC Room Use(In Character)

Rooms created by users shall not carry explicit language, sexual references, or any slur that can be considered racist or hate crime related in the title. If this is seen, a user will be warned to change it. Failure of such will result in banning.

Fighting

While we understand fighting is a part of role playing and character development, we ask that you, as the user, try to keep it fair. Remember, not all characters are created for battle.
If there is a threat of an attack IC wise and the player threatened does not wish to engage, then they should the contact possible attacker via whispers and/or find a way to avoid such threats.
Disobeying these rules will result in either being kicked from the chat or banned from the site.

Clones

A clone is defined as a character, being, entity, or consortium affiliated with a registered trademark, copyrighted material, or otherwise legally bound creation of another maker's.
Also, keeping a look of the same character and the same name, for instance, but "changing the personality" of the character, is not only still cloning, but even makes the creation look bad.
If a player wishes to play a cloned character, ensure the proper creators and/or copyrighted information is listed somewhere within the profile and/or image.

Room Tags

There are mainly multiple tag variations and four of the main types are broken down as follows as well as their respected rule.
Any kind of tags such as (Private), (Semi), or (NF[no fighting]), (MalesOnly) (EvilBuyers) will be asked to be removed.
Weather/Time of Day/ Description tags will be allowed.
Para (paragraph posting) tags. These tag do not have to be followed. It's a preferred idea only. We understand that some users don't like to wait for para posts, aim more towards developing storyline than paragraph posting and can get irritated keeping post turn while waiting for 15-20 minutes between posts in some situations. At the same time we realize some para players don't want to make the players who don't parapost wait, but also don't want to feel they're being forced into someone else's way of RPing. In regards to this, we ask players show respect to the room creator's wishes and adhere to the normal TOS of the chat as well as any preferences set by the creator of said room.
Room-type tags. Take for instance The_Lost_Frontier. Anyone know what that could be? It could be... a literal lost frontier, or it could be a tavern. If that is the case then a tag like The_Lost_Frontier(Tavern) is acceptable as long as it is informative to the type of room.

Administrators/Moderators

Moderators will govern the site accordingly.
If a user has an issue of any kind involving the chat, (commands not working, harassment or simply a question) they are expected to take this issue up with a Moderator or an Administrator.
Moderators and Administrators have the right to warn, kick or ban users who abuse the Chat Terms of Service, harass and/or disrespect other users in a vulgar or threatening fashion. A warning may or may not be issued prior to a Kick or Banning.
If a user argues without maintaining a polite manor with a moderator or administrator, they will be kicked or banned immediately and a log will be sent to the Site Administrators.
Disobeying these rules will result in either being kicked from the chat or banned from the site.. If abuse of this service in any way is found, the abuser's ISP will be contacted and legal action may or may not be taken.
